Testing cycle currently closed. New police officer candidates must be at least 20 years old to apply by not older then 35 years of age at the date of hire, unless otherwise exempt by State Statute. If selected, candidates must attain the age of 21 prior to entering the police academy. Below is the latest eligibility list, valid for two years:
Full-Time Lateral Police Officer applicants must be certified in Illinois or another state as a police officer and have had two years of consecutive full-time employment as a police officer at the same agency.
