PRESS RELEASE- One dead 3 shot in Round Lake Park
On September 29, 2019, at approximately 1:15AM, Round Lake Park Police Officers were on patrol in the area of the 500 block of Fairlawn Drive, Round Lake Park. As the officers patrolled, they heard gunshots, and immediately responded to a residence in the 500 block of Fairlawn Drive. When they arrived, officers determined four adult males had sustained gunshot wounds.
Preliminary investigation shows a family was hosting a party at the above residence. Partygoers arrived that the family did not know and the family began to turn people away. A short time later, at least one adult male arrived at the party began shooting initially outside from the street then entered the house shooting individuals in the kitchen area. Four people were shot, two critically. One of the men, who has not been identified died at the scene. The other three were transported to local hospitals, where two remain in critical condition with the other still being treated for a non life threatening wound.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and an autopsy has been scheduled on Monday, September 30, 2019.
Round Lake Park Police requested the assistance of the Lake County Major Crime Task Force. Round Lake Park Investigators continue investigating with the assistance of the Lake County Major Crime Task Force investigators.Investigators are working to determine if this was a targeted shooting, it does not appear to be random.
