According to the 2019 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.7 million people misused prescription pain relievers, 4.9 million people misused prescription stimulants, and 5.9 million people misused prescription tranquilizers or sedatives in 2019. The survey also showed that a majority of misused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.
In partnership with the Lake County Save a Star Drug Awareness Foundation, the Round Lake Park Police Department and local Lake County police agencies have prescription drug disposal boxes to take back your expired or unused prescription drugs. Unused prescription drugs that remain in home medicine cabinets are highly susceptible to abuse, creating a public health crisis. Dispose of your unused and expired medicine in an environmentally friendly manner.
Additionally, the Round Lake Park Police Department will send an officer to your home or collect prescriptions. Simply call 847-270-9111 and an officer will respond to your home. Or simply go to Contact on this site and make a request.
