Effective July 1st minor traffic tickets issued to drivers will rise from $120 and $140 to $164 for a guilty conviction if paid prior to a court date. Tickets for texting or using a cell phone while driving will also be $164. Local ordinance violations are no longer an option. Drivers should note that, effective July 1, cell phone and texting-related tickets will also be considered moving violations, even if the driver is using a phone at a stop sign or red light. Each July 4th, thousands of people, most often children and teens, are injured while using fireworks. Despite the dangers of fireworks, many individuals don’t understand or ignore the risks - devastating burns, other injuries, fires, and even death.
